Add water and lemon juice to a non reactive bowl that is large enough to hold all of the apples chunks.
Working with one apple at a time, peel and core the apple. Cut the apple into large 1 inch chunks. Add the chunks of apple to the water/lemon mixture in the bowl. Continue, until all the apples have been cut and are in the bowl.
Add the contents of the bowl to a large saucepan.
Add the brown sugar to the saucepan.
Place the saucepan filled with the apple mixture on the stove and turn the heat on high. Once the mixture in the pan boils, reduce the heat to low. Stirring occasionally, simmer the apple mixture for 25 – 30 minutes. The apples are done when they squish easily with a spoon. Remove the apple mixture from the heat.
For a smooth Homemade Applesauce, let the apple mixture cool for 5 minutes then add it to a food processor bowl. Pulse the mixture until smooth.
For a chunky Homemade Applesauce, use a potato smasher and smash the apples until desired chunkiness.
This Homemade Applesauce is great served warm with cinnamon. Enjoy!
