MARGARITAS!! Aaahhhh how I love margaritas!! They are my favorite summer cocktail! I love a tasty cold lime margarita on a warm day. Who am I kidding? Heck I like a tasty cold lime margarita on a chilly day too! Since we are getting so close to the Cinco de Mayo holiday, I wanted to share with you a delicious margarita recipe. These margaritas are made with beer. That’s right! BEER! Who would’ve thunk! You can’t really taste the beer and it helps to mellow out the limeade flavor. Yes, I use limeade as well. As it turns out, beer, limeade and tequila are a delicious combination.
This Beer Lime Margaritas recipe is so simple that it takes a mere 5 minutes or so to make. I don’t like my margaritas to taste too alcohol-y but more alcohol can certainly be added. Be careful though, these margaritas will sneak up on you. I know because I had to do some taste testing to get the recipe just right and found that these margaritas go down so easily that I was a little loopy when I was done.
I love me a frozen (blended) margarita but this is not a frozen margarita recipe since it’s made with beer. WARNING: Blending beer is not a good idea. Beer will be everywhere if you try to blend it in the blender! Believe me, I know! Instead, this margarita should be served on the rocks… and if you are a person who loves salt like me, don’t forget to salt the rim! You can use a course sea salt or kosher salt instead of buying a “margarita salt” at the store.
Not only is this recipe easy to make but you can also do many variations of this recipe depending on how sweet or strong you like your margarita. I like my margaritas on the sweeter side but some people do not. You can simply switch out the Sprite in the recipe for water. As I mentioned you could add more tequila if you like a stronger margarita or maybe a floater of Grand Marnier. Also, if you want to make Beer Lime Margaritas for a party, just double or triple the recipe. Trust me, your party-goers will drink them all up and rave about how delicious they taste! Cheers!!
Beer Lime Margaritas
Ingredients
- 1 12 ounce can frozen limeade concentrate
- 8 ounces of tequila (I used white tequila)
- 12 ounces of Sprite (or water for less sweet margaritas)
- 12 ounces of beer (I used Corona – do not use craft beer)
- Ice
- Course salt
- 1 lime , cut into slices
Instructions
- Pour limeade and tequila into a large pitcher. Stir until limeade has melted (the tequila will help to melt the limeade quicker). Once the limeade has melted, stir in the Sprite and beer. Grab some glasses and wet the rim of each glass with lime juice. Dip each glass into plateful of course salt. Add plenty of ice to each glass, pour in the margarita mixture, and garnish with lime wedges. Adjust with additional Sprite or water, if needed.
